Old Blood, Old Roads

Mihn'to is a son of the Deep Shroud: his mother is the matriarch of Clan Nahvare, one of the clans of the Black Shroud that still cleave to the Old Ways. Nestled in the shadows of the Deep Shroud and weaned on myth and mana, Mihn'to is himself steeped in the histories of his clan and his people—a creature of antiquity and a keeper of ways archaic.

White Witches

Alone among the Nahvare men Mihn'to was permitted to practice amidst the Avallachi—witches—of his clan, owing both to his uniquely potent aetherpool and his alleged position within a prophecy foretold by an Amdapori oracle named Ludovica. His portentous birth was met with much controversy amidst the Nahvare, but his mother decreed that he would train amidst the witches. As such he enjoys a strange position of ceremonial respect among the Nahvare even as he chafes at his nature as an oddity and the burdens of his birthright. Despite this, he is ardently devoted to his studies—a fact which befuddles most who meet him, owing to his jagged disposition and lazy hauteur—and his prodigious talent has lent veracity to the whispers of prophecy that so ensconce him.

Silver & Starlight

Aspirants of the Nahvare coven who succeed their Trials often take a sworn brother of the Sentinels as their sworn sword: in Mihn'to's case he took two. Rarely seen without at least one of them—despite his best efforts, at times—Mihn'to has two Sentinels of his clan sworn to his service. One is his own twin brother, Mihn'li, born but seven minutes after Mihn'to himself; the other is Mihwa'to, a senior blade of the Sentinels and a close companion of Mihn'to. Though Mihn'to may often chafe at his being minded by either of the two Sentinels, the witch seldom travels without at least one of them.

Prince of Prophecy

Among the Nahvare, many believe the word of the Matriarch that claims Mihn'to to be a portent and fulcrum of a prophecy foretold in the twilight years of the White City by an oracle named Ludovica. It was this prophecy that meant the Nahvare would break tradition and permit Mihn'to to practice witchcraft, and it was this prophecy that defined the young turns of Mihn'to's life. No Nahvare save Mihn herself knows the text of the prophecy—but many in the Deep Shroud speak of it even beyond the purview of the Nahvare.
